Ericsson Wins Additional HSPA Expansion Contract with mobilkom austria

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by leading Austrian operator mobilkom austria (mobilkom) to expand and upgrade its WCDMA network with the latest high-capacity HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) functionality in the region of Carinthia. The deal builds on earlier contracts between the companies and is allowing mobilkom austria subscribers to enjoy the fastest mobile-broadband speeds in Austria.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson is supplying its latest HSPA technology, enabling high-speed mobile broadband with uplink speeds of up to 1.4Mbps and peak downlink speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, fully supporting currently available end-user devices that allow download rates of up to 7.2Mbps.

Ericsson’s HSPA solution boosts network capacity and cuts response times for interactive services. The upgrade of mobilkom austria’s existing network will increase the performance of mobile broadband and enable the operator to expand its mobile broadband offering into Carinthia.

Boris Nemsic, CEO of Telekom Austria Group and CEO of mobilkom austria, said, “With Ericsson’s HSPA solution, we are now able to offer the most advanced multimedia services to our 3.9 million customers across Austria, reaffirming our position as the leading mobile operator.”

Peter Zehetner, Managing Director of Ericsson Austria, said, “We are proud to continue our long-running relationship with mobilkom austria. This contract highlights Ericsson’s ability to provide cutting-edge solutions to one of the most advanced markets for mobile broadband in Europe.”

Rhinoplasty

Some are unhappy with the noses they were born with, and some with the way aging has changed their nose. How about you? If you are one of them, maybe you need nose surgery or rhinoplasty.

What is rhinoplasty? According to Wikipedia, rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure which is usually performed by either an Otolaryngologist, Maxillofacial Surgeon, or Plastic Surgeon in order to improve the function (reconstructive surgery) and/or the appearance (cosmetic surgery) of a person’s nose. Rhinoplasty is also commonly called a “nose job”. Rhinoplasty can be performed to meet aesthetic goals or for reconstructive purposes to correct birth defects or breathing problems. It can be combined with other surgical procedures.

I suggest you to know how rhinoplasty is performed and what you can expect before you do that. Find a surgeon that can provide more information about the procedure. Think about it again before make a decission.

Alltel ships BlackBerry Pearl 8130

Alltel has shipping its version of the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, the first CDMA-capable Pearl. The candybar design has all the features of the full version including true GPS, which can be used either through Resarch in Motion’s own BlackBerry Maps feature or through a subscription to a service like TeleNav. Unlike Sprint or Verizon models, though, its music can be sideloaded through a custom program dubbed Jump Music instead of Windows Media Player or manually copying files, helping to justify the phone’s microSDHC slot and cards over 8GB.

The 2-megapixel camera, 3G Internet access through EVDO, and native headphone jack remain in place from the fundamental design. Alltel carries the phone in black trim for $150 with a two-year plan but also offers it for $480 without any contract.
