Samsung Announces Samsung Soul

Samsung Electronics announced today the release of Samsung Soul, the company’s new flagship handset for 2008, presented as the “Spirit” of the Ultra Edition series. The phone will make its official debut next week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain (11 – 14 February).

Samsung Soul comes in a slim, stylish slider case, while at the same time packing high-end features – a perfect combination between portability and functionality. The handset offers a Magical Touch navigation pad that adjusts itself according to your needs, making the whole mobile experience simple and intuitive. Although ultra-slim, measuring only 105.9 x 49.5 x 12.9 millimeters, the phone is 3G enabled, offering HSDPA connectivity for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.

Ericsson Signs First Consumer Push E-mail Contract with Aircel

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced its first contract for delivery of its hosted consumer push e-mail service to leading Indian operator Aircel, part of the Maxis Communications group.

Under the terms of the three-year managed services hosting agreement, Ericsson will have end-to-end responsibility for the consumer push e-mail service. This includes systems integration and management, as well as operation and maintenance. Integration of the service has already begun, and commercial launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2008.

Softbank to Launch HTC X03HT in Japan

Softbank plans to release a new smartphone called HTC X03HT in Japan this April. The device has following features:

Sony Ericsson Releases W580im

Sony Ericsson recently unveiled its W580im handset, a new version of the W580i music phone. The W580im packs all the features the original phone has and also brings i-mode compatibility for high-speed Internet access.

Sony Ericsson W580im comes as a quad-band (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) GSM device with EDGE and GPRS connectivity and it’s a slim, nice looking slider that measures 99 x 47 x 14 millimeters and weighs 94 grams, Walkman 2.0 player, TrackID music recognition, PlayNow for fast MP3 downloads, MegaBass, Flight mode, FM radio with RDS, Music tones and Polyphonic ringtones. Furthermore, it has Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, built-in handsfree, Voice memo and Memory Stick Micro 512 MB card included.

The i-mode compatible Sony Ericsson also features a 2 inch 240 x 320 pixel TFT 256K colors screen, a 2 megapixel camera with video, NetFront browser, e-mail capabilities, RSS feeds, Java MIDP 2.0 and a standard Li-Po 900 mAh battery.

Sony Ericsson W580im will hit the market during February, for an unknown price, probably in the same color options as the W580i model: Style White, Boulevard Black, Urban Grey and Metro Pink.
