T-Mobile and Nokia Introduce Nokia 6650 Exclusively for T-Mobile Customers

Today, at CeBIT 2008, T-Mobile and Nokia announced the Nokia 6650, a stylish and easy to use device optimized for use with T-Mobile services. Available exclusively for T-Mobile International customers, the Nokia 6650 is equipped with the latest wireless features, such as an integrated GPS and multimedia player, allowing T-Mobile customers easy access to a wide range of services such as web’n’walk, MyFaves, Mobile Jukebox and NaviGate.

The Nokia 6650 comes with a 2 megapixel camera with flash, 30 MB of internal memory and a micro SD card slot, FM radio and many other features. Images and videos can be uploaded to the web, sent from phone to phone via a wireless Bluetooth connection, or viewed in full color on the device’s large display.

The Nokia 6650 will be available from T-Mobile during the third quarter at T-Mobile sales points across Europe at a very attractive price. In Germany for example, the Nokia 6650 will retail for just 1 euro together with the Relax 100 rate.

Philips Unveils Philips 9@9j

Philips recently unveiled its latest mobile phones from the Xenium family, Philips 9@9j, a handset that comes to bring a standard Li-Ion battery plus an extra slot where AAA batteries
can be introduced. The handset is made in collaboration with Techtium and Energizer, two companies that also worked with Philips in 2007 to bring the first ever mobile phone with support for AAA batteries: Philips Xenium NRG.

The new Philips 9@9j is a quad-band GSM device that works on the 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies and provides GPRS and Bluetooth connectivity. Measuring 110 x 45 x 15 millimeters and weighing 98 grams, the phone comes in a candybar form and it looks stylish enough to attract everyone’s attention. It also has a TFT display with a 176 x 220 pixel resolution, video and music players, FM Radio, 1.3 Megapixels camera, 1 GB of internal memory and microSD card support.

Philips 9@9j’s Li-Ion battery provides a talk-time of 8 hours and a stand-by time of up to 720 hours, which means about a whole month. Moreover, when the standard battery is out of power, the AAA battery comes in (supposing that there is one in the special dedicated slot) to give the phone a plus of about 2 hours of talk-time and a stand-by time of up to one week.

Philips 9@9j should be available starting April 2008 for an unknown (yet) price.

Samsung Releases Samsung i550w

Samsung rolled out an improved version of its i550 handset, Samsung i550w. The new i550w offers Wi-Fi, tri-band GSM connectivity (900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) plus EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA, hence being one of the most evolved phones in terms of featured connectivity, comparable to Nokia’s N-series handsets.

Samsung i550w has a candybar form factor and measures 115 x 53 x 13.8 millimeters, weighs 109 grams, and packs a 2.6 inch QVGA TFT display with 262,000 colors. It runs on Symbian 9.2 with S60 3.1. and comes with built-in GPS receiver, pre-installed Google Maps, full HTML browser, RSS support, Music player (supports WMA, MP3, AAC ,AAC+, OGG and ASF), Video player (supports WMV, 3GP, H.263 and MPEG4), Flash player, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Java MIDP 2.0, USB 2.0 and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack which, for some odd reasons, is not found in too many Samsung phones. Furthermore, there are built-in handsfree, document viewer (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF), organizer,150 MB of built-in memory that can be expanded up to 4 GB with a microSD card, and a standard Li-Ion 1200 mAh battery.

Another cool feature of Samsung i550w is its 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus and flash that will allow users to take pictures at a pretty high quality. There’s also video recording capability, plus a secondary VGA video-call camera.

Samsung i550w is already on sale on some websites, unlocked, for $395 (about 260 Euro).
