E-Plus Selects Ericsson for Upgrading WCDMA network

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by German mobile operator E-Plus to expand and upgrade its WCDMA network. The deal also includes the expansion and enhancement of the E-Plus microwave transmission network and will allow subscribers to enjoy best-quality mobile data services in most parts of Germany.

Under the three-year agreement, Ericsson will upgrade E-Plus’ existing Ericsson WCDMA base stations and add new 3G base stations to increase network coverage and capacity. Ericsson will also supply microwave transmission solutions, including MINI-LINK TN, to support capacity growth for the transmission network. Ericsson will also provide network technology consulting services.

Ericsson’s microwave transmission solutions shift voice and data traffic from the radio access to the core network, enhancing the capacity of the mobile network backbone to cope with increased traffic in the radio network.

Our leading mobile broadband solutions will allow the E-Plus Group to introduce innovative mobile internet and multimedia services cost-effectively and quickly.”

Ericsson and FIFA Sign Multimedia Solution Agreement

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) and FIFA have signed a global agreement where FIFA will use Ericsson’s content management and service delivery platforms to enable its broadcaster and telecom content licensees to propose a mobile content offer based on FIFA events in 2009 and 2010.

FIFA, the world governing body of football, will use Ericsson’s platform to allow broadcasters and telecom operators worldwide to deliver compelling content offers based on different FIFA events. The offers range from basic information-based to advanced mobile TV and video solutions.

Ericsson’s platform and services are configured to meet the needs of telecom operators and media companies and other service providers acting in the marketplace.

Ericsson Signs First Consumer Push E-mail Contract with Aircel

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced its first contract for delivery of its hosted consumer push e-mail service to leading Indian operator Aircel, part of the Maxis Communications group.

Under the terms of the three-year managed services hosting agreement, Ericsson will have end-to-end responsibility for the consumer push e-mail service. This includes systems integration and management, as well as operation and maintenance. Integration of the service has already begun, and commercial launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2008.

Ericsson Provides hellas online with IMS

Following a breakthrough agreement, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has provided hellas online (hol), telecom operator, member of Intracom Holdings Group and one of Greece’s major internet service providers, with the IMS and softswitch network.

Under the turnkey agreement, Ericsson delivered and implemented a next-generation network incorporating its Telephony Softswitch Solution and IMS solutions. Ericsson also provided the network deployment, systems integration, multivendor verification, customer support and training programs.
