Ericsson Provides hellas online with IMS

Following a breakthrough agreement, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has provided hellas online (hol), telecom operator, member of Intracom Holdings Group and one of Greece’s major internet service providers, with the IMS and softswitch network.

Under the turnkey agreement, Ericsson delivered and implemented a next-generation network incorporating its Telephony Softswitch Solution and IMS solutions. Ericsson also provided the network deployment, systems integration, multivendor verification, customer support and training programs.

Ericsson signs IMS contract with TELE Greenland

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by TELE Greenland as Core IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) supplier to deliver integrated fixed and mobile convergent services. Ericsson’s Core IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) will be employed to develop TELE Greenland next-generation offering.

IMS-based services enable communication through various media – such as voice, text, pictures and video, or a combination of them – adapted to each individual’s preference. Ericsson’s IMS solution supports a common service environment and allows TELE Greenland to implement flexible and scalable advanced services.

Ericsson Wins Swisscom’s WCDMA/HSPA Upgrade Contract

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has signed a frame agreement with leading Swiss operator Swisscom to expand and upgrade its WCDMA/HSPA network to enable high-speed mobile broadband coverage across 90 percent of Switzerland.

As key supplier to Swisscom, Ericsson will provide an HSPA (High-Speed Packet Access) solution that will upgrade the operator’s network to enable peak speeds of up to 7.2Mbps on the downlink – the maximum speed that commercial HSPA subscriber devices currently allow.
This agreement also expands on Swisscom’s initial HSPA launch in February 2006, making uplink speeds of up to 1.4Mbps available across 90 percent of the country.

The contract will underpin the widespread availability of mobile broadband services across Switzerland and support subscriber access to a host of innovative services. The service was announced by Swisscom in November 2007. Rollout has started and is due for completion in the second quarter of 2008.

Ericsson to Supply Mobile TV Solution to Cellcom Israel

Ericsson has signed a contract with leading Israeli mobile operator Cellcom Israel to provide an end-to-end mobile TV and video solution to enable Cellcom Israel’s subscribers to enjoy a true TV experience, including access to live TV channels and video-on-demand (VoD) content.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will be the sole supplier of a mobile TV platform supporting rich media clients, a content management system and support systems for operation and customer care units. Rollout has started in December 2007, with commercial launch due during 2008.

Ericsson’s cutting edge mobile TV solution will provide users with a customized TV experience offering access to fast channel switching, an easy-to-use navigation menu and more advanced features.

Ericsson’s Mobile TV and Video solution leverages the existing cellular network to allow operators to capitalize on existing network infrastructure investments. The flexible and scalable solution can also accommodate broadcast technologies such as Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service, as they become available.

Ericsson to be Sole Supplier for Partner Communications

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by Israeli mobile operator Partner Communications to replace and expand its WCDMA/HSPA equipment. The deal sees Ericsson become the sole vendor of Partner’s GSM and WCDMA/HSPA core and radio network.

Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide a full swap of 1400 base stations, expanding the capacity of channel elements for voice and data to support speeds of up to 14.4Mbps. Ericsson will also provide a wide range of professional services, including business consulting, deployment and integration. Ericsson will support and maintain other Ericsson elements in Partner’s network as well.

The deal reinforces Ericsson’s leading position as the supplier of WCDMA/HSPA technology in Israel and is expected to lead to higher operational and technological efficiency and to result in cost reductions for Partner Communications. The system deployment has started and is set to be completed by July 2011.
