Nokia Announces N810 Tablet
Nokia has officially announced the N810 Internet tablet. The greatest change is the addition of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Users can typing via the touchscreen, though this option should still be present. The direction pad has also been moved to the left side of the slide-out panel, making room on the front for a VGA camera that enables Gizmo video calling. VoIP calls can be made via Skype.
Another major revision is the inclusion of a GPS receiver and accompanying map software, allowing users to locate their position and find various points-of-interest. To use the 810 as a true personal navigator, users must upgrade to Wayfinder.
The screen on the tablet measures 4.13 inches, and has a native resolution of 800×480; despite this potential power drain, the battery should be able to handle up to 45 hours of music, stored on an optional 10GB memory card. Internet connectivity meanwhile is still limited to Wi-Fi, while non-VoIP calls must be made through a Bluetooth-linked phone.
The N810 is expected to launch in mid-November at a price of $479.
