Casio, today announced the release of Casio W61CA. The W61CA clamshell measures 106 x 50 x 18.9 millimeters (when closed), weighs 132 grams, packs lots of high-end features and meets both IPX5 and IPX7 waterproof standards. We recently had news about another waterproof handset made in Japan, Fujitsu F750i, that came as the “world’s slimmest waterproof 3G mobile phone”. Although the Casio device isn’t that slim, it compensates with the rest of its features.
The new phone has a 5.1 Megapixel camera with self-timer, Auto focus, 8x digital zoom, 35mm wide-angle lens, blur reduction and video recording in QVGA mode. Furthermore, the device comes with a wide 2.7 inch LCD display at a 240 x 400 pixel resolution that, together with the DMB-TV feature, makes Casio W61CA a good phone for watching TV transmissions.
Casio W61CA is available in 4 colors (Mode Green, Couture Gold, Robe White and Esprit Yellow) and has some features that make it a perfect jogging or walking companion: timer, calorie counter and distance measurement. Plus, being waterproof, the phone can be taken basically anywhere, on any weather. Other cool specs include office document viewer, voice input, bi-directional English-Japanese dictionary and microSD card slot for up to 2GB of extended memory. The handset’s battery can provide a talk-time of about 220 minutes and a stand-by time of up to 320 hours.
Currently the phone is only available in Japan.
