Nokia and Microsoft to Deliver Windows Live Services

Nokia, the world’s largest mobile device manufacturer, and Microsoft, a global leader in online communications and communities, have joined together to provide customers with a new suite of Windows Live services specifically designed for Nokia devices. Starting today Nokia customers in eleven countries with compatible S60 devices can download the new suite enabling access to Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Spaces. Starting next year, customers who purchase compatible Nokia Series 40 handsets will also have access to these popular Windows Live services.

Toshiba World First with 32GB SDHC Card

Gadget users will be able to store a whole lot more on memory cards with the launch by Toshiba of the world’s first 32GB SD High Capacity memory card. Today Toshiba announced the ground-breaking 32GB SDHC memory card alongside two other new memory cards, a 16GB SDHC card and an 8GB MicroSDHC card.

The cards meet the Class 4 specification. They’re designed for high performance functionality with advanced mobile phones and other consumer gadgets supporting SDHC. The high capacity 8GB MicroSDHC card will effectively give mobile phones the storage capacity of a top-end iPhone by simply slotting in a fingernail-sized card.

Toshiba is releasing the 16GB SDHC memory worldwide from October, and the 32GB SDHC card and 8GB MicroSDHC Card will go on sale worldwide from January 2008. UK prices have yet to be confirmed, although the Japanese on-sale price of the 16GB SDHC card is initially expected to be around 40,000 Yen (£175) and the 32GB SDHC card 80,000 Yen (£350).

I-play to Bring Casual Games to N-Gage Platform

Nokia today revealed that I-play, the mobile entertainment company, will be delivering a line-up of casual games to the N-Gage platform launching this fall. The first two titles to be introduced in 2008 include, World Rally Championship, the official license of the FIA WRC, and Super Mah Jong, an epic tale based on the ancient spiritual game Mah Jong, from the makers of Jewel Quest(TM).

“I-play brings a diverse games portfolio to N-Gage, and we’re excited to have them on board,” said Gregg Sauter, Director, 3rd Party Publishing, Nokia. “The N-Gage toolset provides the opportunity to deliver new features and richer experiences to consumers through I-play’s strong portfolio of content. SNAP Mobile Games Go Live in Germany

Today at the GC Developers Conference (GCDC) 2007, Nokia announced that SNAP Mobile Games will be available to German consumers in the fall of 2007. The initial games offered include SNAP Mobile’s flagship games of Pocket Party titles including JellyPop and Sudoku, which are already available in Asia Pacific and North America.

The SNAP Mobile games will come pre-installed on select Nokia handsets, such as the popular Nokia N73, Nokia N95 and Nokia 6300 in Germany. Consumers will be able to demo the games for free and decide whether or not to buy the full versions. Users only need to click the ‘buy’ link after reviewing the purchase details and then they receive a text message with a link to download the full version of the game.

Nokia Intellisync Selected as du Branded Mobile Email Solution

Nokia today announced that du, the new telecom operator in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is set to offer Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email to its consumer and business customers in summer 2007. The service is aimed at providing secure, easy-to-set-up mobile email and PIM (personal information management) functionalities for users ranging from individuals to businesses.

du is the UAE’s second national telecommunications provider and started its mobile service in February 2007. To distinguish itself in a well-saturated mobile market like the UAE, du has committed to deliver highly innovative and user-friendly services to its customers.
