Sprint has just announced that they will be offering the new Palm Centro smart phone for $99.99 (after a $100 mail-in rebate), starting on Oct 14th. The Centro runs Palm OS, and has an EVDO data connection.
The Centro is a small phone, with with the same style of full QWERTY keyboard with highlighted keypad as Palm’s Treo models. It runs Palm OS, and includes improved messaging features from older Palm OS phones; SMS and email messages will be threaded, and there is support for instant messaging services such as AIM, Windows Live! and Yahoo Messenger. It can also play MP3 files, which can be stored on a Micro SD card, and supports Sprint’s Sprint TV service, which offers programs from several major TV networks.
Palm describes the Centro as the world’s smallest Palm device, band it will be available on the 14th of October for $199.99, with a $100 mail-in rebate bringing the price down to $99.99.
